Cumberland County Teen Arts Festival

Dear Fellow Educators:

This year proves to be an exciting year for the ever growing, ever improving Cumberland County Teen Arts Festival. I would like to introduce myself to you as the new Teen Arts Academic Ambassador.

My name is Carol Nagao. I recently retired after 32 years of teaching art at Millville Senior High School. I have enjoyed many years of participating in Teen Arts with my students. Now, I am very happy to act as your liaison with the Cultural and Heritage Commission as we, and you, prepare for the 2008 Cumberland County Teen Arts Festival.

This year’s festival will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008. The workshops and performances will be held in the Millville Arts District at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts, the Clay College, and in large tents along the riverfront. It’s a beautiful setting with plenty of room to accommodate large numbers of student participants.

All forms necessary for participation can be found on our website: www.ccculturalheritage.org This way, it’s easy to access whatever information you need, no matter in which discipline your students would like to register.

Teen Arts is offering a wide variety of workshops in visual arts, vocal and instrumental music, theater, dance and spoken word. Not only will the students benefit from instruction, advice and critique by professionals in their field, but they will have a chance to meet and exchange ideas with other students of the arts in Cumberland County.

Teen Arts has been working hard to refine and improve the festival each year in order to provide an exciting, quality experience for students of Cumberland County who love the arts. If you haven’t been able to participate for the last few years, I would encourage you to join in the fun and excitement this year. If you are a regular participant, we eagerly look forward to seeing you and your students once again for this outstanding day.

Please look for more letters and emails from me as I strive to communicate as much information as possible to you about the festival, deadlines, helpful hints, and other noteworthy information. I welcome your questions, thoughts, suggestions and concerns. I am here to help you make your participation possible, pleasant and, hopefully, perfect in every way.

Please feel free to contact me anytime by email or phone. I would truly appreciate receiving the email addresses of all teachers who may participate to ease communication with the appropriate individuals. I would be happy to visit you at your school, at your convenience, if that would be helpful. Think of me as your link to the Cultural & Heritage Commission Teen Arts Committee.
